Accessibility for all our passengers is important at Central Tramway. We recognise that the tramway offers a vital service to both locals and visitors to Scarborough navigating the steep incline from the seafront to town.

Our carriages are fully wheelchair accessible with level access both on and off the carriages.

Entrance and exit from the carriages at the bottom station is via a slightly sloped incline directly off the public footpath.

Entrance and exit from the carriages at the top station is through a gated entrance, where payment is taken. Once inside the carriages there is space between the bench seating for both wheelchairs and electric mobility scooters.

We ask that electric mobility scooters please be switched off and the brake applied during the journey.

We have attendants at both the top and bottom stations to assist visitors with sight or hearing loss or impairment.

A hearing loop is fitted at the top station pay booth and can be used by our visitors with a hearing aid with a T facility.

If you have particular needs or questions please contact the team at ahead of of your visit to us.

Thank you for choosing to travel with Central Tramway.
