Accessibility is important at Central Tramway as we recognise that we offer a vital service to both locals and visitors in Scarborough navigating the steep incline from the seafront to town.

Our carriages are fully wheelchair accessible with level access both on and off the carriages.

Entrance and exit from the carriages at the bottom station is via a slightly sloped incline directly off the public footpath.

Entrance and exit from the carriages at the top station is through a gated entrance, where payment is taken. Once inside the carriages there is space between the bench seating for both wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Mobility scooters must be switched off and the brake applied during the journey.

We have attendants at both the top and bottom stations to assist visitors with sight or hearing loss.

If you have particular needs or questions please contact the team at ahead of of your visit to us.

Thanks for visiting.
